Cloud Nothings announce new album and tour, share single, give publicist the rest of the year off

Much like election season and waiting for the merciful heat death of the universe, the modern album cycle has gotten far too long and arduous. Cloud Nothings agree, which is why this time, the Ohioan indie rock band decided to drop details on their new album, tour, and lead single all at once to get it out of the way. Smart thinking!

The band’s fourth studio album, Life Without Sound, was recorded over the course of three weeks earlier this March with Sleater-Kinney and Los Campesinos! producer John Goodmanson. The press release calls it frontman Dylan Baldi’s “most polished and considered work to date,” which sounds an awful lot like an insult to Mr. Steve Albini’s contributions to their second record Attack on Memory to me, but who could say for sure?

The new record is out January 27, 2017 on Carpark, over three months from now, which gives fans the perfect amount of time for their hype to fade into the ether before they forget such a thing was ever announced. What an excellent surprise they have to look forward to!

The band also have a few live stops this year before they take off across North America and Europe for a full-fledged 2017 tour following the release of Life Without Sound. Check out those dates, listen to the album’s lead single “Modern Act,” and comb through the album’s tracklist below. This concludes Cloud Nothings’ graciously short 2016 media blitz.
