Common’s New Album Due in November, Releases New Track “Letter To The Free”
Posted on 15 October 2016
A few weeks back at his Chicago festival, AAHH Fest, Common announced that his 11th album would be out in November via Artium/Def Jam. We’ve heard a couple releases thus far, and they’ve all been promoting awareness about the injustices African Americans have faced for years. Common has a huge platform now, and he’s using his stage to enlighten and educate. While most rappers his age struggle for relevancy and attempt to mimic the youth, Common is bucking the trend with edutainment. It’s very much needed.
That said, Common’s track “Letter To The Free” closes out the must-watch documentary, 13th, which is available on Netflix now. The song has already been nominated for a 2016 Critics’ Choice Documentary Award for “Best Song in a Documentary.”
Below, Common has listening session for the song which was attended by the likes of ?uestlove, Lin-Manuel Miranda among others. Watch it below.
