Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox Says He’s Still a Virgin, Discusses Asexuality With Savages’ Jehnny Beth
Posted on 20 October 2016
Bradford Cox was the most recent guest on Savages’ Jehnny Beth’s Beats 1 radio show “Start Making Sense.” The Deerhunter frontman sat down for a wide-ranging conversation that in part focused on Cox’s views on asexuality and his own sexual history. He told Beth that he identifies as asexual, and revealed “At 34 years old, I’m actually a virgin.” He continued, saying, “To be asexual is very confusing. And a lot of people are mistreated who are asexual, because I don’t think people really believe in asexuality.” Beth said that she thinks “we live in a very sexual society,” and Cox added, “Capitalism and sexuality to me are inherent linked.” You can listen to a clip of their conversation below and the full talk here.
Elsewhere in the interview, they discussed Cox’s now-defunct blog and the influence of PJ Harvey on their music. Deerhunter is currently touring North American in support of their 2015 album Fading Frontier.
