R3hab – Icarus (Original Mix)

“Icarus” is one of several tracks R3hab has released recently which indicate his new affinity toward deeper shades of EDM. In the track, the producer adopts the quintessential future house sound in his new output, fusing light vocals into a patchwork of hollow synths, powerful kicks, and a brief, yet atmospheric background. Though notably more mellow than R3hab’s usual work, the piece would work well in his sets as a warm-up to more aggressive tracks.

Prior to “Icarus,” the Dutch producer took a step away from his heavier, big room approach to production, both with his airy remix to Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” and his anime-inspired piece, “Sakura.” It will be interesting to observe what future productions by R3hab will sound like as he approaches 2017.
